After Sunday Glow

My time at Mount St. Joseph was good. Did some reading and some praying and some thinking. The ministry of the Congregation of St. Joseph (Sisters of St. Joseph) in Wheeling is remarkable, including opening the mother house to retreaters. While I was bone weary this morning getting only 4 hours sleep, (fetched spouse from airport very late) what a good Lord's Day it was! I only had one in my Sunday school class, but we did some good work. Reading through Luke 8-12 to pull out ideas about what…See More

We should chat

In the rush of things (aren't we always rushing?), I realize that I had posted one blog and then stopped cold turkey. Awesome. It's Wednesday. The dog's tum is gurgling in the background. She has digestive issues and this morning, her tum is serenading me. Guess I should put her out just in case. The spousal unit is in California at a New Church Start Training thing for seminarians. He's psyched about what he is learning, and I am pleased for him but REALLY ready for his seminary to be over. With…See More

For God Alone

Posted on April 13, 2010 at 1:04pm 2 Comments

Just returned home after the Oreon E. Scott lecture for 2010. Bonnie Thurston led us through the Lord's Prayer: Personal Piety & Social Justice. It was awesome. I now have a deeper understanding of the prayer and the power of praying it. When we pray, "Your kingdom come," do we really understand the implications of that phrase? Are we ready to live with the consequences? Radical message.

Bonnie's book, For God Alone has a whole chapter on… Continue
