An Exciting Ministry Opportunity for Graduating Seminarians

December 7, 2010

Dear Disciples Seminarians,

I am writing to inform you about a unique ministry opportunity for graduating seminarians at Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Lexington, KY.  This spring, we will be hiring a new Minister in Residence to begin work in the summer of 2011. Resident Ministers have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced ministerial staff in a vital, downtown congregation. Residency is a two-year, full-time, salaried position on our pastoral staff designed to help new clergy make effective transitions from formal theological training into congregational leadership.  This program at Central Christian offers a valuable first-call experience that you may not receive in the typical Search and Call process—one marked by a high degree of support, flexibility, and freedom to explore different areas of congregational ministry.  It is our hope that Residents will use this time to lay the foundations and form the habits that will make for many rewarding and vital years in service to churches.

If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please do not hesitate to be in touch. You may also wish to visit Central’s website for additional, detailed information about who qualifies and how to apply. In order to be considered as a candidate, we must receive your residency application and Search and Call papers no later than March 1, 2011. The staff

at Central wishes you the best as you finish seminary and consider your
transition into congregational ministry.

Sincerely,

Rev. Jake Caldwell

Minister in Residence
